Sad day

Monday was a fun but sad day. Miles' brother accepted a job in Littleton Colorado and Tuesday was moving day, so Monday was Urban's last day at preschool and goodbye day. We were so glad that he was able to come over to play for a last time after school. Scotty and Urban have been buddies since they were born. They are only 3 months apart and have been having a regular weekly playdate since they were about 18 months old and have done lots of other fun stuff together. It has been so fun to watch them grow up and play together. I listened to them playing, laughing and screaming on Monday and was sad that I won't be hearing that regularly again. I wanted to post some pictures of them together through the years and had a really hard time narrowing them down to just 11! They are so cute and we are really going to miss Urban (and his parents!). But I know that Scotty and Urban will remain good buddies even though they are living far apart. We love you Urban!

Getting ready for a sleep over.

They used to play for a long time sticking keys in the holes under the table. It was so cute!

Adorable!

I told them to put their arms around each other and this is what I got!

Having an Incredibles party with their cool capes.

Urban came with us to the cabin one weekend and it was so much fun. Here they are gathering sticks to play with in Jenny Lake.

Learning to ski with their dads.

They had hours of fun playing outside in the backyard.

Scotty was not hurt in the taking of this photo!

I loved watching their imaginations grow. In this photo they are watching their tv in their little clubhouse underneath Grandma Geri's deck.

Here they are on their last playdate. As you can see they made good use of time and toys!

Halloween Parade

We were all excited about Scotty's Halloween party and parade at preschool. All those adorable kids in their cute costumes- who wouldn't love it? A few months ago Scotty said he wanted to be Wall*E for Halloween, so Miles had been thinking up ideas to build the costume. Then at the beginning of October Scotty said he changed his mind and wanted to be a magician. We're not sure why he chose this but it was a much easier costume to create so we went with it! We got him a top hat, a magic wand and a cape. He already had the shirt, vest and pants so we were all set. He was disappointed that the hat was black and not colorful so he decided to decorate it with stickers. He was very pleased with his work! His magic wand lit up and he absolutely loved it. He was so excited getting dressed before preschool and was excited driving to preschool. We were excited as we drove to the preschool later to watch the parade. Then when we saw him come out he wasn't excited anymore. His magic wand had broken and wouldn't light up and he was very, very sad about it. I tried to explain that it was still a cool wand without lights but that didn't really help. Uncle Nate was able to fix it up for him with a twisty tie and that cheered him a little bit. These preschool tragedies are so sad! The parade was fun for us though!

Here he is all excited to go to school.

Here he is not very excited to walk in the parade!

At least he looked at the camera!

The whole adorable class.

Grant thought this tree was more exciting than watching kids stand in a line!

They are all singing a fun Halloween song, except for sad Scotty. Take notice of my cute nephew Urban who is batman. He's standing next to a little girl dressed as a cat and they are holding hands! How cute is that? They've been a preschool "item" for a little while now!

Mekhi, Urban and Scotty. Aren't Mekhi's pilot glasses awesome??

A half smile from Scotty sitting with his best bud.

Muffin Tin Monday

Muffin Tin Monday at Her Cup Overfloweth
This week there was no theme for Muffin Tin Monday and since we missed last weeks kebab theme I decided to do some kebabs for the boys. As I said in my last post Scotty has H1N1 flu and was really sick yesterday so I forgot about MTM. But he was feeling better today and he asked if it was muffin tin day and was excited when I said we would do it.

My wonderful neighbor brought us dinner last night and her baked rigatoni's were perfect for a kebab- Scotty loved it and had two. We also had ham and cheese kebab, green bean kebab, garlic bread kebab and then a jack-o-lantern donut for a treat.

The bread was his favorite. He hardly ate anything yesterday so it was good to see him feeling better and eating again.

I had to watch Grant really closely because he kept sticking the whole toothpick in his mouth! I've seen some really cute picks on other MTM posts and I want to try to find some because food on a pick is always great fun. Don't forget to check out Her Cup Overfloweth for more MTM fun.

My sick boy

My boys have been sick for a little while now. They all had colds and coughs last week. We kept Scotty home from preschool on Wednesday and Friday and all of them stayed home from church. Scotty was doing much better on Sunday and we were going to send him to school on Monday. But at 3:30am Monday morning I woke up to him crying and calling me and when I went into see what was wrong he was burning up with a fever. We took his temp and it was 102.7- uh oh! When he woke in the morning he was obviously sick and his temp got up to 103.3. We were very lucky to get into a doctor in the morning and they did a strep test and a flu test. Strep was negative, but it came back that he has H1N1 flu. He prescribed Tamiflu which helps it to run it's course faster and told us to make sure he gets plenty of fluids and rest. It's so sad to have a sick child. He just laid around most of the day, would cry and was sad. He fell asleep for about an hour on the couch in the afternoon. He hates the tamiflu. We have to hold him down and he spits a lot of it out- it's awful! This is the first medicine that he's had that didn't taste good and now he's fighting us about taking Motrin and his gummy vitamins!
I feel bad for him. The flu is not fun. It's been hard for me because all I want to do is snuggle with him and comfort him but I have to take care of Collin and Grant and there isn't much time for me to do any snuggling. I see him laying on the couch by himself and it makes me sad, but hungry, poopy, crying babies can't wait. He is doing much better today. His fever is coming down and he has much more energy. Hopefully it will run it's course quickly. I'm just watching and waiting for Grant or Collin to start getting sick. Fun for all!!

Here he is taking his nap. Poor boy!

I thought he looked cute all snuggled under the blanket and all I could see was his eyes.

Great view

I was cooking dinner the other night, looked out the kitchen window and this is what I saw:
I'm a pretty lucky gal, wouldn't you say?
