Pancake Puffs

With the switch to digital tv we are picking up the qubo station. It has great kids shows and Scotty loves it. He especially loves this British show called Postman Pat- he calls it Postman Hat! But his favorite thing on qubo is a commercial for pancake puffs. It's this cast iron pan that you pour pancake batter into these holes, cook one side, flip them over and you end up with a ball shaped pancake puff. He gets so excited when the commercial comes on and lately has been saying that he really wants to have pancake puffs. The other evening he ran into Miles' office and announced to Miles that he needed to call now to order pancake puffs! Miles picked up the phone to call me upstairs to tell me about it and Scotty's eyes lit up and he asked if he was calling. This morning Scotty comes upstairs and tells me that pancake puffs are the perfect finger food for him (a quote from the commercial!) and that he really, really wants to get pancake puffs! I have to say that no commercials is definitely a plus for PBS!

Wordle

My sis-in-law put this site on her blog and it was fun to do so I thought I'd share it on mine.  You can enter your blog and it will arrange prominent words from it with the most common words being in a bigger font.  It's pretty fun to see and there are some funny words randomly put together! title="Wordle: Lawrence Sandwich"> src="http://wordle.net/thumb/wrdl/206782/Lawrence_Sandwich"

Choices

Miles was putting Scotty to bed the other night and he wanted to take 3 animals to bed with him.  Miles told him that he can only take 2 and he needed to choose which ones he wanted.  He ended up giving back his puppy dog but proceeded to tell Miles that after Miles left his room he was going to get out of bed, go into our room, get puppy dog and make a bad choice!  Luckily for him he chose not to do that!

Two nights in a row!

I feel very lucky to have two nights in a row this week to do something fun.  Last night all the girls got together for Geri's birthday.  She chose to get together at her house, bring dinner in and play games.  We laughed a lot and had a lot of fun.  There was plenty of Diet Coke and even some chocolate cupcakes!  It was nice to relax and laugh with the girls.

Tonight we're blessed to have Mel coming over to watch the kids while we go to the temple.  We were even on the ball and got in to get our recommends renewed!  It will be nice to have some spiritual uplifting and spend some time with Miles.  Right now I'm cooking dinner for these guys at home tonight so that all Mel has to do is warm it up.  It's not easy to cook dinner when you are by yourself with my kids.  Grant is always needy at that time and Scotty is wanting to "help" which really is not any help at all!  While they are eating warmed up spaghetti, we will be enjoying Pei Wei - oh Mel, I hope you know how much we appreciate you!!  We do have plenty of Diet Coke chilling in the fridge just for you!

Grant's amazing haircut!

Grant had his first haircut last week. He keeps impressing us by being an amazing baby! He did not cry during his haircut - AT ALL!! Not a fuss, wail, whimper or scream- nothing. We couldn't believe it! He just sat there looking around and playing with the comb and clip that she gave him to hold. He entertained himself for a little while thrashing his arms around underneath the cape making it fly- that was pretty funny. Our hairdresser, Brenda, said he'll go down in history as the easiest baby haircut ever! What a great boy!

Before...

...and after!

He even let us push his head down without even a whimper!

Angel face!

He had a very serious look the whole time.

Scotty was after Grant. He loves to hold this brush and brush the hair off of the cape as it falls!

Sickies

We're all sick today.  Well, Miles isn't feeling too bad and he's off in SLC working.  That leaves me, Scotty and Grant here to be sick together.  Scotty woke up last night crying and coughing.  When we went in to check on him he was having a hard time breathing and was coughing a lot.  We got the humidifier in there and he slept the rest of the night.  He is much better today, but he's still coughing, stuffy and runny.  Grant has had a runny nose for a few days now.  He slept until 9am, then took a 2 hour morning nap and he is sleeping right now for his afternoon nap.  His body knows what to do when it's sick!  Scotty only slept an hour for his nap and Grant was awake during that time, so there goes my nap time!  I really don't feel good- stuffy head, sore throat- all that fun stuff.  I wish I could just sleep the afternoon away.  But, alas, Scotty is calling me with a toy truck emergency, so I'll put my nap dreams on hold for now!

Where's Mommy and Daddy??

Scotty has taken to calling us Mom and Dad instead of Mommy and Daddy lately.  I thought it would pass and didn't think too much of it, but it has been going on for over a week and the Mommies are getting fewer and fewer.  I'm really sad about this!  I feel like he's too young to abandon Mommy and Daddy.  Shouldn't he still call me Mommy for a few more years??  And, for some reason, hearing Mom called out 20,000 times a day is more annoying then hearing Mommy called 20,000 times!!  I told him that I like it when he calls me Mommy and he will right then, but the next time he says it he's back to Mom.  I guess I'll get over it, but I'm going to be in mourning for Mommy for a little while!

Another first day of preschool!

Tuesday was Scotty's first day of preschool. He did the summer class thing, but this was his first day of real preschool. He was excited, but he got nervous as we drove up to Ms. Crystal's house. He wanted us to stay with him and I told him that Mommies and Daddies don't go to preschool and he wanted to know where we go. Home to celebrate and revel in the quiet didn't seem an appropriate answer, so I just said that they go home! He has a few friends in his class that he knows- his cousin Urban, friend Mekhi, a friend Alaura and a few kids from his summer class. He was excited when Urban and Mekhi got there and sat down by him and happily waved goodbye to us!
We went to the open house and he got a homework calendar. He needs to do 10 minutes of homework every weeknight and put a sticker on his chart. When the chart is full he takes it back and gets a surprise. He was very excited about homework. Although, 10 minutes is a long time for Scotty, so we break things up and that seems to work well. He got two laminated tracing pages, one of the alphabet and one of his name and he loves them! He was so excited to practice on them and has been excited to do it everyday since. We started homework on Sep 1st which was the day before school started and he sat and did the tracing for 10 minutes. We were very impressed!

Excited to go back to school!

Jumping on the cowboy boots along the pathway.

He told us afterwards that he made green pancakes.

Scotty, Mekhi and Urban.

Here's his tracing pages - I think it's so cute! He's so proud of them and hasn't let me wipe them off to start over yet! I, obviously, helped him with the A and B and then he did everything else himself. So cute. You can click on the picture to really see his hard work.
